Relationship Posture

Good posture helps your body, and good relationship posture can help you build better, stronger relationships.

Lean In

With relationships, don’t stand up straight, lean in. When you have the opportunity to meet with people, take it. Don’t be neutral—err on the side of people. If it comes down to watching TV or going out with people, choose people.

Walk Side by Side

Walking in a relationship is doing life side by side. It doesn’t have to be a special occasion to get together. Help your friends with their yard work and they can help you with yours. Doing regular life with another person is better than doing it alone. Relationships grow when we do ordinary things together.

Raise your Voltage

Build relationships with people who bring out the best in you. Some people are full of positive energy, and you feel better after having spent time with them. Others hoover up your energy. Spend more time with the people who power you up and less with those who drain your vitality.

Balance Boundaries

Give your friends the freedom to say no. Relationships work best when people are free to choose without pressure. Let your friend’s ‘no’ be ‘no’ and make sure your friend respects your ‘no.’ Sometimes you have other commitments or need to rest quietly at home. Good boundaries make for good relationships.

Reach Out from Stability

People are the most valuable thing we have. Old friendships and family relations give us stability. They are our support. But don’t get too comfortable. Reach out to new people who might be lonely.
